History of Alba

In 1995, the Glasgow RSCDS branch committee approached a few of us who were dancing with both the Glasgow University club and the RSCDS, and expressed their concern at the lack of young people attending RSCDS classes. It was felt that many students were put off from joining RSCDS branch classes primarily due to the relative formality of the class style. Consequently it was decided to form a club to act as a bridge between the two so that those leaving university still had a group to dance with until they might wish to join the RSCDS. Thus 'Alba' was formed.
